Below is the list of themes (click here to go there NOW!) I created OR heavily modified. Please read the requirements and precautions below before you download or install the desktop themes.
Requirements:
:: Windows 98, or ME.
:: True Color display settings.
:: Desktop Theme Manager (Microsoft Plus!, Leftside Software Desktop Themes, or Desktop Architect ver 2.11). I HIGHLY recommend Desktop Architect 2.11 for its simplicity of use and thorough customization of your desktop. In fact, the full function of themes downloaded from this site can only be applied using Desktop Architect. Older system may need to install the file 50comupd before using Desktop Architect. Get it at the Microsoft website.
:: In order to minimize the size of the download, the sound files in the themes below have been compressed to the MPEG Layer 3 format. To enable the playback of these compressed audio files, you must have Windows Media Player 7 installed. Media Player 7 contains the codec necessary to play the above file format. For further information and download of this codec, please go to the ThemeDoctor website.
Precautions:
The themes include startup/shutdown logos, and web view images. If you're using software other than Desktop Architect (version 2.0 or 2.11), the default files below may be over written upon application of the themes. The themes' installation procedure WILL NOT over write the default files above. However, PLEASE make sure you back up the following files before APPLYING any themes from this site:
:: logo.sys found in your C:\
:: logow.sys and logos.sys found in your C:\windows\ folder
:: wvleft.bmp, wvline.gif, and wvlogo.gif found in your C:\Windows\Web folder
You can avoid these time consuming task by simply downloading Desktop Architect ver 2.11. This is the software I used to create the themes I've made. It is the BEST theme manager software I've found, and it is also FREE. Download it now!
General Installation Procedure:
All of the Themes below are packaged in zipped files. After completing the download of the zipped files, open them with WinZip. The contents of the zipped files are the Theme Installer (.exe) and the Read Me file (.txt). Open and read the 'Read Me' for installation steps of the individual themes. The .exe files can be run to install the themes automatically to your default Theme folder. After installation, run your Theme Manager software and apply the theme. My themes are made as to be fully utilized if you use Desktop Architect as your theme manager. For the 3rd generation themes, the installer for the theme screensaver can be found in the folder where the theme is installed. Read the 'Read Me' file for details.
